Volunteer Recognition Party 2025: A Night of Gratitude and Connection
Last week, we gathered to celebrate the incredible volunteers who are at the heart of Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland. Our annual Volunteer Recognition Party was a chance to reflect on the dedication, care, and time that each volunteer gives to support youth in our community.
Honouring an Incredible Commitment
Over the past year, our volunteers contributed an amazing 36,362 hours to mentoring and supporting young people. That’s 36,362 hours of listening, encouraging, and showing up—and it’s made a lasting impact.
At the event, we had the pleasure of recognizing this generosity during our annual certificate ceremony. It was a moment to thank each volunteer for the unique ways they help ignite potential and create meaningful change.
Mentors Rule!
We asked: What does mentorship mean to you?
Here’s what our volunteers shared:
✨ Friendship
✨ Connection
✨ Support
✨ Growth
✨ Life-changing
✨ Understanding
✨ Someone who believes in you—but also knows when to challenge you to grow
These words say so much about what mentorship makes possible—and why we’re so proud to celebrate the people who offer it.
An Evening of Connection
Beyond the formal recognition, the evening was filled with fun and connection. From engaging games to great food, there were plenty of opportunities to share stories, swap mentorship tips, and build new friendships.
Together, we celebrated not only the hours given, but also the spirit of community that makes Big Sisters so special.
To all of our volunteers: thank you. Your time, energy, and heart are what make our work possible—and we’re so grateful to have you as part of the Big Sisters family.
