Unleashing the Potential of Youth

Big Sisters’ Unleashing Potential Campaign focuses on building a brighter future for girls and youth across the Lower Mainland. The need for mentorship has never been more evident. We know that the last few years have been challenging for everyone, and we have seen the negative impact it has had on girls, youth, and their families. With your help, we can redefine the landscape of mentorship in our region by creating a unique space where Bigs and Littles can connect and flourish.

Big Sisters has an unprecedented opportunity to design a new future for mentorship for the girls and youth we serve by focusing on three core pillars.

  • Hub for Mentorship — building a dedicated space to nurture and strengthen mentoring relationships

  • Growth and Innovation of our Programs — expanding our mentorship programs to adapt to the evolving needs of young people

  • Sustainability Fund — securing the future of our mission for generations to come

Hub

A New Home for Mentorship

We now have a unique opportunity to deepen our impact, grow, and scale in ways we never imagined would be possible, while setting the foundation for future sustainability.

For 65 years, Big Sisters has delivered mentorship in coffee shops, libraries, and community spaces. Now, we’re reimagining our office as a vibrant Hub where youth and their mentors can explore educational opportunities, create art, share a meal, plan for their futures, and feel a true sense of belonging.

The Mentorship HUB we’re working to build will be a dedicated space to expand our programs—from group mentorship to post-secondary support—and to make sure every girl and gender-diverse youth who needs a mentor can access one.

The Power of Mentorship

A central part of our campaign is raising awareness about the Power of Mentorship. Girls and gender-diverse youth who have access to the support of a mentor are more likely to report positive mental health, education, and career outcomes than their peers who did not have a mentor.

As part of this we’re sharing powerful stories from local leaders across Vancouver and the mentors and mentees who’ve shaped their journeys. Mentorship doesn’t just help young people—it shapes communities, careers, and confidence at every stage of life. We will be profiling these leaders and sharing their stories across our channels to highlight the positive power of mentorship.
