Every Connection Counts – Spring 2023 Newsletter

Dear Big Sisters Community,

Spring is a season of renewal and growth, and at Big Sisters, we are embracing this spirit with enthusiasm.

We’re grateful for our volunteers who support girls and youth across the Lower Mainland, and we’re excited to resume in-person service delivery and community events, including our in-school group mentoring program Go Girls!

One of the things that makes our programs unique is the long running nature of some of our matches and the depth of the commitment that is demonstrated by the Mentors and Mentees. Last year the average length of matches was over five years. I recently learned of a match who were first connected in 1974 and they still speak every day. It’s these deep connections that create real change for individuals and ripple out to the community.

In this issue you will read about our new space, meet Big Sisters’ newest board members, and learn the story of Big and Little Sisters; Sandy and Jen.

We could not do our work without you, and I personally want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the supporters and volunteers who believe in the power of mentorship. Your dedication to Big Sisters is a constant source of motivation. Thank you for all that you do.

With gratitude,

Chantelle Krish
