About this role:
Reporting to the Manager of Post-Secondary Programs, the Mentoring Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Bright Futures Education Fund and Pumped for Post-Secondary (PFPS) programs. This role focuses on engaging youth and mentors, coordinating programming and events, and ensuring students are meaningfully supported throughout their post-secondary journeys.
What you will be doing:
Program Operations & Case Management
- Coordinate year-round support, communication, and case management for Bright Futures Education Fund (BFEF) recipients, including tuition submission, required documentation, reporting, student records, fee deferrals, and forms required by post-secondary institutions.
- Monitor BFEF matches and complete required check-ins in alignment with National Standards.
- Plan and coordinate BFEF Connect sessions, workshops, guest speakers, and other learning opportunities.
- Coordinate recruitment, application review, information sessions, and cohort selection for the PFPS program.
- Maintain accurate program and student records in Dynamics and related tracking systems.
Volunteer Engagement & Training
- Recruit, screen, interview, and complete reference checks for PFPS Volunteer Mentors.
- Coordinate and facilitate inclusive and engaging Volunteer Mentor training.
- Provide ongoing communication and support to Volunteer Mentors throughout the program cycle.
Program Implementation & Support
- Plan, lead, and facilitate PFPS sessions in collaboration with the Program Manager.
- Conduct participant check-ins and support participant engagement, retention, and successful program completion.
- Coordinate program wrap-up activities and participate in National PFPS meetings, curriculum, and resource development.
Program Planning & Resource Development
- Contribute to the development of student resources, annual support calendars, and program materials.
- Support annual BFEF and PFPS events, surveys, consultations, and related initiatives.
- Connect participants with internal and external resources and services.
What you bring:
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Minimum 2 years’ direct program delivery experience in a community-based social service setting with a bachelor’s degree in social work, Counselling, Education, Psychology, Child & Youth Care, or related field; OR
- Minimum 3 years’ related experience with a two-year post-secondary diploma in a related human services field.
- Experience working with children, youth, and families, ideally in a not-for-profit setting.
- Experience supporting and engaging volunteers is an asset.
- Commitment to building inclusive programs for diverse communities.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience considered.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
- Strong understanding of issues affecting youth and families in the Lower Mainland, including housing insecurity, mental health, systemic racism, gender inequality, and barriers to post-secondary access and success.
- Strong youth group facilitation skills, including the ability to engage participants, manage group dynamics, and create an inclusive learning environment
- Familiar with community support systems.
- Ability to provide trauma-informed, inclusive support.
- Strong communication, outreach, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently and in teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; case management database experience is a plus.
- Flexible schedule, including some evenings/weekends.
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle are required to travel to program location sites.
- Second language skills an asset.

This position:
This is a permanent, full-time (35 hours/week) based in our Vancouver office located on Joyce Street directly across from the Joyce SkyTrain station. The role requires working five days per week, with minimum two days in the office. Some daytime travel, as well as occasional evening and weekend work, may be required. Flex time or lieu time will be provided to accommodate any additional hours.
