The spirit of giving, that’s what the holiday season is all about. This Giving Tuesday, why not give a girl a positive mentor?
It’s proven. The impacts of mentoring last a lifetime. From improvements in school performance and higher career achievements to stronger relationships and increased self-esteem, mentoring changes lives.
Here’s how mentoring changed Little Sister Sierra’s life.
How to Give
Every gift counts. Whether it’s a donation towards our mentoring programs or volunteering your time, both help girls reach their full potential.
Please consider donating to Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland this Giving Tuesday and help us reach our $2,000 goal—which is what it costs to make and sustain one Big and Little Sister match for one year. Here are three ways to give the gift of mentorship:
1. Help us raise $2,000 online–the cost of one Big and Little Sister match per year. Donate now.
2. Become a volunteer–we’re hoping for two new volunteers this Giving Tuesday. Sign up here.
3. Increase our social media activity–that means more likes, shares and comments on posts that you find more interesting. Want to share your own? Use @BigSistersBCLM, #MentoringMatters, #GivingTuesday and #UnSelfie to spread the word.

About Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a National Giving Day
Most people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday… now Giving Tuesday is coming to Canada on November 29, 2016.
Giving Tuesday is about creating a national movement for giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages donations and volunteering activities that support any and all charities and non-profit organizations.
Giving Tuesday takes place each year after Cyber Monday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others.
The impact of mentoring lasts a lifetime.
When Big Sister Lysa met her Little Sister Angeline in 2006, a friendship was sparked that has spanned a decade. Lysa and Angeline’s story is not unique. With the help of our donors and volunteers, hundreds of successful matches are made each year through Big Sisters’ mentoring programs. Our programs not only help young, vulnerable girls develop the skills, confidence and self-esteem they need for a successful life, they also foster friendships that last a lifetime.
