About the role:

Reporting to the Manager of Marketing and Communications, you will be responsible for creating visual content, coordinating various activities, assisting with marketing and communication efforts, and supporting the administration of strategic planning.

What you will be doing:

STRATEGIC PLAN PROJECT COORDINATION

  • Support the CEO and Executive Team with project planning and execution relating to the strategic plan.
  • Support engagement activities which include organizing interviews and focus groups, survey dissemination and other project-related activities.
  • Promote activities and engagement related to strategic planning process and implementation.
  • Supports delivery of communications strategy.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating activities and events.

CONTENT DEVELOPMENT AND GRAPHIC DESIGN

  • Writing communications content for external communications including blog posts, social media impact and annual reports and newsletters.
  • Create visual content for various platforms including social media, newsletters, and event promotions using InDesign, Canva and other graphic design tools
  • Assist in designing marketing materials and maintaining brand consistency across all platforms and channels.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

  • Support marketing team to implement communications strategy to highlight and achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • With guidance from Marketing team, develop social media content and post/implement across all channels; monitor and report on engagement and carry out daily checks.
  • Monitor and compile current media and trends impacting Big Sisters work and communities served.
  • Prepare event and executive briefs / reports for the Marketing & Communications team and broader organizations.
  • Develop event promotion materials for newsletters, social media, and other channels.
  • Document activities (photo & video) for future use and ensure media waivers are on file.

 OTHER:

  • Attends team, department, and organization meetings as required
  • Participates in general agency functions, such as but not limited to, the Annual General Meeting, Volunteer Recognition Events, Fundraising Events, and other agency events
  • Assists in general agency functioning and performs other duties as requested or required

 What you bring:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Previous experience working with children and youth is an asset.
  • Highly organized, mature, self-starter, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.

This Position:

This is a 10 – 12-month contract, full-time (35 hours/week) position reporting to our Vancouver office two days per week with the option to work from the office or from home for the balance of the week. Daytime travel and some evening and weekend work will be required which will be supported through flex / lieu time.
