Big Sisters' Activities Committee puts on many fun, multicultural, and community-orientated activities for Big & Little Sisters matches each year! (Note: Study Buddy matches will be invited to join the Big & Little Sister matches at the Summer BBQ, Halloween Party, and Winterfest each year) Many of these group activities incorporate Big Sisters' Multiculturalism Initiative, First Nations Initiative, Healthy Living Initiative, and environmental awareness. Past events have included: First Nations crafts, cooking classes, horseback riding, snowtubing, seasonal parties, and many more! Watch the weekly enewsletter for details on upcoming group activities.

Check out Big Sisters' weekly enewsletter (sent to each volunteer's inbox every Wednesday) for free event tickets, upcoming agency activities, and fun community events.

Workshops for Volunteer Mentors

The Big Sisters Development Committee assists in supporting our volunteer mentors in their matches with their Little Sisters. The Committee provides tools and education to the volunteer mentors to ensure that they are equipped to confidently and effectively deal with challenges that commonly arise in mentoring relationships. Topics for recent seminars for volunteer mentors have included boundary setting, internet safety, and diversity awareness.

The First Nations Initiative celebrates First Nations culture and encourages awareness, understanding and appreciation of our First Nations culture amonst our Big & Little Sisters.  Past First Nations activities have included: bannock making, canoeing, First Nations role model panels, workshops on how to make medicine pouches and mini button blankets, and drumming circles. We also welcome First Nations women to become mentors in our Big & Little Sister Program or our Study Buddy Program

The Multicultural Initiative celebrates and introduces different cultures to our Big & Little Sisters to strengthen cross-cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation amongst our membership.

The Healthy Living Initiative encourages healthy living for our Big & Little Sisters; encouraging a healthy mind, healthy body, and healthy spirit.

We encourage our membership to be environmentally aware of how they can keep our planet green and learn to fully appreciate our natural surroundings.
