2011 Spring Lunch Raises $54,600
The 2011 Big Sisters Spring Lunch, presented by Scotiabank, was held on May 18th at the Sutton Place Hotel and raised $54,600 – a new record for this event! This marked the 15th anniversary of this Big Sisters fundraiser and the event was a sold out success with 270 guests in attendance.
Little Sister Aziza and her mom Susana spoke about how important our programs have been to their family since they immigrated from Uzbekistan in 2005 (read their speeches here), and Mayor Dianne Watts gave an inspiring keynote speech on how important mentoring is to both our personal lives and to having strong communities.
Guests pledged an outstanding $16,300 during the "Sponsor-a-Match" portion of the event, and the lunch concluded with a fabulous Birks Raffle Draw. The funds raised will allow us to match 27 girls with a caring mentor. Thank you!
