Gayla DeHart is a co-owner of Nurse Next Door Professional Home Care Services, an award-winning company that serves seniors in their homes. Gayla is also the principal of Achieve Excellence Coaching and Consulting Services, a results-oriented company that has helped hundreds of small business owners and professionals achieve their personal and professional goals. She earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from UBC in 2003, and taught graduate level educational psychology courses and several undergraduate courses at the University of British Columbia for several years. Gayla's education and research experience involved working with at-risk youth and incarcerated women, where she saw evidence of the importance of the presence of positive role models in the lives of young people.

Gayla was appointed to the Big Sisters Board of Directors in 2009 and has served on the Divas Gala planning committee. She also works with local and international organizations to provide educational opportunities and poverty relief to those in need.

Gayla lives in Vancouver with her husband, John, co-founder of Nurse Next Door, and their daughter, Daisy.
